It's a typical Thursday night. Around 4 AM
I get a call from a guy I have picked up a few times before. He seemed
to have walked down to a Texaco gas station and was calling from the pay
phone there. I swing by there to pick him up and he tells me that he wants
to go by a friends place around the corner to pick up something. So I
pull up infront of the house to let him out. As I'm trying to turn the
van around I notice a police car pull past me. Then the guy comes back
and jumps back into the car. We take off and about 200 yards down the
road I notice police lights flashing behind me. I thought he noticed my
California stop at the stop sign. The officer walks up and starts to talk
to to the guy I just picked up. He asks him,"Where did you get all
those DVDs?" He replies,"They were here when I got in the cab."
Then I replied,"Huh?!?!". 2 hours later I'm in handcuffs in
the police station, not knowing what the hell is going on. Apparently,
the guy just burgalrized that house and I was technically the 'get-away
car'. The whole time I keep telling the police,"I'm a taxi driver,
I pick up strangers for a living!" It took them 3 hours to realize
that and release me.
I'm picking up someguy at 6:30 AM and taking him to work. When it's that
early I am ususally wearing my sunglasses. The guy jumps in the car and
notices the sunglasses. He immediately asks me "Are you blind?"
